MCP Word, Excel and PowerPoint generation for Goose

Goose can use MCP servers as external tools. Connect it to OfficeMaker when the agent needs to create a native Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) or PowerPoint (.pptx) file from schema-led structured data.

How OfficeMaker fits with Goose

Goose remains the agent/client. OfficeMaker is the document-execution server. The client discovers OfficeMaker tools, fetches the live schema for the requested Office format, creates structured JSON, validates it, and calls the document service to create the file.

client/agent → OfficeMaker MCP → schema → structured JSON → validation → OfficeMaker middleware → DOCX/XLSX/PPTX

Setup pattern

Public free OfficeMaker MCP endpoint: https://free.officemaker.ai/mcp

  1. Use Goose Extensions / MCP configuration to add an external MCP server.
  2. Configure the OfficeMaker endpoint https://free.officemaker.ai/mcp using the remote-server options supported by your Goose build.
  3. Enable the extension, confirm the tools, fetch the schema and create the Office artifact.

Why use OfficeMaker instead of generating file code in the agent

The model works with a schema-led JSON representation while OfficeMaker middleware handles Office-file construction. This keeps low-level DOCX/XLSX/PPTX implementation and rendering outside the model context.

That can reduce code-generation, debugging and screenshot-QA loops. It is an architectural advantage rather than a guarantee of fixed token savings.

What to ask the agent

  • Fetch the OfficeMaker schema for the requested document type before inventing fields.
  • Build a normal structured payload, then validate it.
  • Use OfficeMaker for the actual Office-file output rather than silently switching to Python or another library.
  • Review generated business content before external use.

Client-specific notes

Goose documents its extensions as MCP servers and allows other MCP servers to be added as extensions.

Source and verification

The Goose MCP capability described here was checked against the client’s official documentation on 7 October 2026. Client configuration and plan availability can change.

Questions

Can Goose create Word documents with OfficeMaker?
Yes. If Goose can connect to the OfficeMaker MCP endpoint, the agent can fetch the Word schema and ask OfficeMaker to create a native DOCX.
Can Goose create Excel and PowerPoint files too?
Yes. OfficeMaker exposes schema-led generation for Excel and PowerPoint as well as Word. The exact tools available depend on the selected OfficeMaker service tier.
